At Heal Your Paws Psychological Counselling
We all have psychological issues – humans and dogs alike. Anytime the safety or well-being of either the pet or the human is in question, a professional should be brought in to determine the best course of action. Here comes in the role of the psychologists in our panel. Our psychologists at Heal Your Paws are experienced in interpreting animal behaviours and can work with you and your pet to determine what’s causing them to act out in the first place. Maybe, that destructive behaviour whenever you leave home is being caused by separation anxiety. Or, maybe your puppy is biting and chewing because he is bored and could use more exercise. When we know the why behind the what, we can then work toward a solution.
We try to reach out to the pets gently and with compassion on mental, emotional and behavioural level, so as to ascertain what is the issue and the best solution possible. Our psychologists also counsel the owners to make them understand their pets better and deal with them accordingly. The first step is seeing your vet. There may be an underlying medical issue that needs to be treated.
Some of the behavior issues we can assist with include:
Aggression
Canine Compulsive Disorder
Phobias
Separation Anxiety
Destructive Behavior
Excessive Barking
Counselling offers basic obedience advice and behaviour modification tips to help owners establish a rewarding relationship. At Heal Your Paws, we believe that a positive reinforcement-based training program can make all the difference in a pet’s behaviour. We try to achieve a balanced state of mind for both pets and humans leading to a healthy relationship. It is important for dog owners to understand their dog’s emotional sensitivities and sociability as behaviours are a response to how the dog feels. By providing the proper information and training, the relationship between dog and owner will be a happy and balanced one.
